Health News

Last year I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  My blood glucose levels were 6.5 in July 2025. Today they are 4.8. I am no longer diabetic or on medication to manage blood sugar levels.  It all happened through eating a keto diet. (It is not for everyone).  For me it has worked and my blood tests in July and November were all out of whack. By following the diet and having a continuous glucose monitor on daily i managed to turn the blood test in march all were back within normal range.

I have managed to lose 16kg since December 2024 when I was at my heaviest.

I hope this inspires you to not quit your health matters.

You just need to find what works for you.

A few things I have learnt is

  • Eat vegetables first then protein with healthy fat then carbs last. The order matters. It will change your bgl to get back to normal.
  • I cut out all bread, pasta, rice until I could see what the bgl were with each food individually.  I discovered my body reacts to all of them.
  • I thought I ate pretty healthy.
  • I also had to choose swaps like a grilled fish instead of fried or battered fish at takeaway places. I also found I couldn’t have hot chips anymore. Nothing fried. (*yes there are days I do cave but I get back on track with the next meal)
  • Things like potato chips eg Pringle’s, smiths, sprinters sent me spiralling upto 12 or 14 bgl. So I had to cut that and swap for things like unsalted nuts, strawberries, seaweed snacks which have replaced the salty chips.
  • Not all berries are equal.  Blueberries give a high reading so I stuck to strawberries or blackberries.
  • Not all Greek Yogurt is healthy.
  • Even though I stick to non starchy vegetables I can also have pumpkin instead of sweet potato.  Little tweeks made all the difference
  • Now use cauli rice instead of rice and I don’t miss the rice.
  • Carbs should be <30g per meal.
  • Higher protein low carb worked for me.
